HostMonster is a great service for any introductory customer looking to establish its place online.
HostMonster provides a few hosting plans that allow you to expand in features for a cost. Its basic domain hosting plan still provides a reliable control panel that keeps it near the top tier of the competitive field of domain hosts. It may be at the tail end of our comparison, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be taken into consideration when you’re shopping for the best domain hosting services.
The database restrictions are the unfortunate part of HostMonster’s offerings. The Basic plan lets you run one domain per hosting account. The bandwidth is unmetered, but there is a 50GB limit on monthly disk space used. However, we found that amount to be more than enough space to run a basic business site. The service does allow you to run five parked domains and 25 subdomains, which any quality domain hosting program should provide. Strangely, it only allows you to open five email accounts under your domain, which is the lowest number on the lineup.
The support team for this service ranked well. By both live chat and phone support experiences, the staff showed expertise in answering our concerns, and doing so in a quick manner. Granted, every concern we brought up could also be answered in the help center, which provides a knowledgebase, video tutorials and a user forum, which isn’t very common even among the top domain name hosting services.
As mentioned, the package doesn’t claim to offer unlimited features of any sort, so what really makes this service stand out is the user experience with both the control panel and the site builder. HostMonster uses a proprietary drag-and-drop site creator, if you don’t choose to use WordPress or another blogging app, that allows you to easily post image galleries, bulletin boards and a news feed. We found this builder to be extremely intuitive, possibly even topping the standard site creators found in the app download page.
